Commercial Copy Decoding
& The Timing Squeeze
Learn the 3-Act structure of every high-paying commercial and master the art of hitting the 29.5-second sweet spot.
⏱️ The 3-Act Commercial & The Timing Squeeze
Every high-paying 30-second commercial has a strict 3-Act structure. You cannot read the whole script with the same energy. You must shift your tone for each act to keep the listener engaged.
Relatable / Exhausted
Disrupt the listener's day. Speak directly to their problem.
Warm / Confident
Shift to a warm, empathetic, and confident tone. You are introducing the brand as the hero.
Urgent / Authoritative
Urgent, clear, and authoritative. Tell them exactly what to do next.
🎯 THE 29.5-SECOND SWEET SPOT
In broadcast, your final syllable must land between 29.0 and 29.5 seconds. Too early sounds rushed. At 30 seconds the board operator cuts you off mid-sentence. The Sweet Spot indicator in the booth will flash green when you're in the zone.
This script is exactly 65 words. You must hit all three emotional acts and finish your final syllable exactly between 29.0 and 29.5 seconds. Do not rush. Pace yourself. If you go over 30 seconds, the broadcast cuts you off.
