Do I need a professional studio or expensive gear?
No. A laptop, a USB mic and headphones are enough to start — you record at home, in your own time, and submit your reads for feedback. We teach you to get a clean, sellable sound from the gear you already have. If you want a full broadcast studio in the browser, SessionPlug is a separate subscription from R199/mo — and it’s free for the duration of the coached programmes.
Is this a subscription?
You choose. Monthly (R349) and Coached (R599) renew through PayFast every month until you cancel — email Craig and it is stopped within a day, and you keep access to the end of the month you paid for. The 12-month pass (R2,499) is once-off: it runs its year and simply stops, nothing is billed automatically, and days stack if you renew early. Lifetime is exactly that: one payment, everything, forever. The coached programmes are once-off too.
Is my voice actually good enough?
Almost certainly — and that is the wrong question. Working voice artists are not born with rare voices; they are trained to think, interpret and deliver. That is precisely what this programme drills. Try the free lesson and hear the difference in your own first three takes.
How long does it take, and do I have to keep up with a class?
It is fully self-paced and asynchronous — no live class times, no cohort, no falling behind. Work in the evenings, on weekends, at your own speed. Your progress is saved lesson by lesson.
What kind of feedback do I actually get?
Two kinds, and it is worth being precise about which is which. Every take you record is measured — recording level, speaking pace, your longest pause, level consistency and clipping — so you can see the technical facts of the take. That part is a machine and it does not pretend to judge your performance. The performance goes to Craig: written notes, a rating and a voice note back from him. Academy includes your first month of personal coach feedback; the coached programmes include far more one-on-one time.
Will this actually help me get paid work?
Here is the honest answer: nobody can guarantee you bookings — not us, not any course, and you should be sceptical of anyone who does. What we can do is make you genuinely good, help you build a demo that stands up, and put you where the work is.
